Tuition Fees

Today I want to talk about how our feelings guide us toward creating the things in our life that we desire.

When in the creative process, particularly during the waiting phase, we need to know how the universe creates a response. Sometimes there is nothing we must do - it simply will come into being. Other times events will be set into motion to allow us to reach out and snatch our goal right out of the fabric of our daily lives.

When the latter is the case, the universe will produce in you an idea, and even more often, a feeling. A little nudge in your stomach. A little itch to do something or go somewhere that you may have no real reason to do or go. These are the moments when we either help the universe to bring our creation to life, or we drop the ball and perhaps cause our creation to take much longer.

For instance, if you are looking to meet someone special, and you have performed your inital part in this creation, one day you may feel like driving to the bookstore. There may not be a book you want - there may be no apparent reason to go at all. Maybe five minutes before you had decided to stay home all day!

So you stay home, and finish your day, and the universe finds another way to create your goal (which may take much longer), or you putter over to the bookstore and bump into your soulmate in the section you’re browsing.

Perhaps your goal is to make a sum of money. Especially if this is the case, you must listen to your intuition. The universe will give you an idea that will allow you to make this your reality. When you get this idea, don’t blow it off as one of your “dumb ideas”, or as impractical, or as undoable. Just get to work on making it so! If you insist, you will create.

The haziest part of the creation process for many is the waiting zone. You must learn that although the universe may produce your desires with no action on your part whatsoever, you may also be called to action in order to manifest that desire. When that time comes, act on your impulse! Act on your feeling. That is what intuition is - the nudge that the universe gives you when showing you how to manifest your desire.

For more information on your ability to create your own reality and take control of your life, see my new e-Book, The Secrets Of Manifesting Your Reality. It goes in depth to teach you how to use your powers as a creator and begin creating your reality moment by moment.

“How do I know it’s really my intuition talking? How do I know I’m not just making things up?” This is one of the biggest concerns many of you seem to have when it comes to accessing your own intuition. The fact is that our intuition is always “on.” It is constantly giving us information, every day of our lives. Imagine a radio music station, running quietly in the background, wherever you are, whatever you may be doing. The music is so omnipresent that you don’t even really hear it anymore. Every once in a while you may catch an auditory glimpse of it, a sweet chord that all too soon gets lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But because it is always with you, it colors your life through your emotions and moods. Subconsciously, you are absorbing information from it all day long. This is how we get “gut feelings.” Our subconscious sends us intuitive information, and suddenly something hits us as being “off.” Or we feel incredibly drawn to people or situations. Most of the time, this is how our intuition communicates with us.

Now, however, we wish to access our intuition at the conscious level. We want answers to specific questions. We want information around the issues we are working on right now. And so we sit down and meditate. We dowse. We use tarot cards, runes, angel cards, or whatever other medium we may be drawn to. We turn up the volume on that radio. And invariably, we’re a little disappointed. “This can’t be my intuition,” we think. “I already knew all that.” The little voice inside of us is just like our own. It’s nothing earth-shattering at all.

The music of our intuition has been running quietly in the background all our lives. Is it any surprise that, when we turn up the volume, every song seems awfully familiar? There are no lightning bolts, no striking visions that remove us completely from reality. No booming voice resounds in our head, gifting us with startling revelations that change our lives. That’s the Hollywood version, but that’s not how it happens.

The voice of your intuition is a quiet, familiar voice. It’s your own! Your intuition is a part of you, and always has been. You’ve been hearing it every day of your life. The difference is that now you’ve started listening. When you consciously tune into that little voice, trust it. Believe in your own inner wisdom. Act on what that small, familiar voice says. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. Start with a leap of faith, and see how your life unfolds.

Tuition Inflation

Intuition is the divine ability to connect with our inner self. It is the part of us that knows the answers to questions before they are even asked. However in our society, we seem to have decided that it is far better to be reasonable and logical. Have we not yet learned that the two should be in loving relationship to one another and not in competition? By joining the forces of logic and intuition, one can even enhance their safety from one of the most damaging criminal acts-sexual assault.

Sexual assault is non-consensual sexual contact. Women, men and children of all ages can be victimized by sexual assault. A rapist may be a stranger, acquaintance, or relative. In 1998, the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Statistics reported that roughly 18% or 17.7 million women had experienced rape or attempted rape at some point in their lifetime.

Most people are more at risk of being assaulted by people who know them. Between 70-80% of all sexual assaults occur at the hands of someone that the victim knows. By nurturing our intuition with awareness we can help others and ourselves to enhance their safety:

Be aware that that it can happen to you or someone you love. Ignoring the reality may further increase the risk.

Be aware that someone may attempt to disrupt your intuitive flow by asking you a question or providing you with information. Often strangers will ask a question like Excuse me, do you know what time it is? “How do I get to route 301 from here? or say something like It sure is hot out here! Your purse is open. Your ride is here. When you allow yourself to begin thinking only, you are not connected to the discomfort of being in the presence of someone you do not know. Maintain a balance of intuition and reasoning.

Be aware of the discomfort that comes with being alone with a person that you do not know well. In the absence of intuition, we tell ourselves that nothing will happen or that we are being silly. Our inner self is right when it informs us that it may take quite awhile before we should feel comfortable enough to trust another person enough to be alone with them.

Be aware that it is dangerous to leave your beverages unattended if you are in the company of persons you do not know and trust well whether male or female.

Trust the voice of your core if you are getting a message that someone is being too controlling. Be aware that it is not safe to be in a position that causes you to be dependent upon another person. Carry a well-charged cell phone and always know whom you can call in a jam.

When communicating your limits and boundaries speak from the core. Speak clearly in short concise statements. Polite statements may be ignored. Make it clear that your decision is not up for discussion.

Be aware that many victims will never share their painful secret with those who might expect that they would. Reassure the people in your life care about that they can come to you if the unfortunate happens and someone assaults them. Children and other loved ones should be assured that you will not blame them and they will not be in trouble if they share secrets with you. Take the time to educate yourself about sexual assault and the effects on the victims, you may need it sooner than you realize.

Be aware that many victims will never share their painful secret with those who might expect that they would. Right now is the time to talk to your loved ones who will be attending college. Maintain ongoing communication with young men as well as young women about safe behavior. Encourage young men to educate themselves about consent and remind them to follow their intuition and not be lured into supporting jokes or situations in which someone may be assaulted.

These points of awareness may help to reduce your risk of sexual assault but may not entirely prevent this violent crime from occurring. It is important to keep in mind that the offender is always to blame and that sexual assault is never the fault of the survivor. No one asks or deserves to be sexually assaulted. If the unfortunate does happen, be aware that help is available.

Lorna Ramsay and her husband, David, live in Scotland and run the TOP-SET Incident Investigation System ( http://www.TOP-SET.com ). They teach how to investigate industrial accidents all over the world, for high-hazard industries as well as the emergency services and the medical sector.

They and the TOP-SET team also go into the field to investigate for clients all over the world, and teach engineers who work in nuclear plants, the oil and gas, explosives and other high hazard industries, how to stay safe by using their intuition.

The most rewarding outcome of their work is the companies find that being humanitarian affects their bottom line. What they learn through TOP-SET saves lives, increases business performance, enhances the companys reputation, increases profitability, complies with regulation, and prevents and predicts similar occurrences. And it also affects employee morale and attitude.

When an employer sends his or her managers to our seminars, says Lorna, they know the company cares about them. What we teach and were educators, not trainers spills over in other areas of the workplace. TOP-SET is a thinking system. We teach our clients to investigate, i.e., to think their way through what is really a complex problem. Were problem-solvers. And once you can analyze what happened, and learn from it, you can prevent and eventually predict.

HOW DO THEY TEACH INTUITION?

Go back to when you were in an unfamiliar situation, says Lorna. Think of how a dog or child behaves. When my dog runs down to the beach in the morning and sees a rubbish bag, shell sniff, circle it, even bare her teeth until shes sure its safe. Well thats what these engineers need to learn how to do, to ’sense’ when something has changed.

When youre working in a high-hazard industry, she says, if you go into a work situation, and theres something coming at you that makes you feel funny - an almost imperceptible smell, a feeling, in an explosive factory it could be a change in humidity - just some change that you sense, rather than see, dont ignore it. If you get a gut feeling something isnt right, pay attention to that, act on that. Intuition can be honed by just practicing and noticing.

CHANGE PROFICIENCY

We help companies move forward and innovate in a time of perpetual change; TOP-SET is specifically a thinking system, a key to investigating accidents, to solving that particular type of problem. But the companies often ask us to assist them in thinking their way through other issues, to help them create, and to innovate. Lorna says.

Weve found when a company is honestly investigating an incident, and the regulatory bodies are aware of that, then theyre less likely to prosecute. The most important thing, though, is that employees feel valued and cared about when such attention is paid to their safety. And it works. Its now safer to be on an oil rig than in your own home.

A practical application for emotional intelligence with many positive outcomes.

Tuition Increase

The Mayor?s College Fair

The Mayor?s College Fair brings together a variety of programs available for the Washington D.C. schools and their students preparing for college tuition costs. This event takes place on September 15, 2006 and provides information about a variety of college tuition assistantship programs. Students in the Washington D.C. schools are encouraged to attend the Mayor?s College Fair in order to learn more about the special programs open to them as Washington D.C. students.

The Mayor?s College Fair is being held for the first time this year as part of the Washington D.C. schools? effort to coordinate the various assistantships available to graduating seniors as well as provide a public forum for discussing and disseminating this information. Hopefully, this will become an annual event at the beginning of each school year as a new class of seniors looks forward to the joys and burdens of financing a college education. This meeting will hopefully provide a structure for students in Washington D.C. schools seeking guidance about financial aid programs and packages available for Washington D.C. students.

The D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant Program

One program that has promised great potential in aiding Washington D.C. school graduates pay for college is the D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant Program (DCTAGP). This program has been going on since 2000 and provided over $100 million towards the education costs of DC residents attending college. This program covers the difference between instate and out of state tuition, up to $10,000 per year for qualified applicants. The grant can be extended over six years at any public college or university nationwide. In addition, there are limited funds available for students attending private colleges in the Washington D.C. area as well as two year community colleges nationwide.

The D.C. Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Program

The D.C. Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Program (DCLEAP) provides $1500 annually to those Washington D.C. school residents who show financial need. This award can be used at any accredited university nationwide. These funds are intended to be used to fill the gaps in a student?s financial aid package and cover many of the costs other than tuition that many students face when paying for books, housing, etc. This program is designed to help Washington D.C. school residents to find the extra help that they need to make ends meet while in college.

The D.C. Adoption Scholarship Program

The DC Adoption Scholarship (DCAS) provides up to $10,000 a year for post-high school education and training of District of Columbia children who were adopted through DC?s Child and Family Services Agency, and/or children who lost one or both parents in the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. These funds are meant to help lower the financial burden to those who lost their parents due to the terrorist attacks and now must take the burden of paying for college on themselves. The grants are targeted toward those members of the community most affected by the attacks as well as keeping community awareness high about the continued impact that the attacks have had on the United States.

(ARA) - The rising cost of tuition has put many families in a bind. A survey conducted by the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges found that tuition at public institutions increased in 37 of the states that responded. In Arizona, California and New York all surveyed schools reported in-state tuition increases of at least 20 percent. Tuition at the State University of New York has increased by 30 percent and at the University of California by as much as 40 percent over last falls levels.

While all parents want the best education for their children, financial constraints can be a burden on the long-term investment in their childs education. However, with diligent planning, families can work together to develop solutions to this problem and be able to afford the best education for their children. Ray Loewe, college planning expert and advisory board member for the GE Center for Financial Learning, offers the following tips on college planning and ways to make the transition back to school more affordable.

* While tuition costs are on the rise, interest rates for paying back college loans will drop to an all-time low. Its good news to those already paying off loans or who will start paying in the near future. According to The Chronicle of Higher Education, someone with $25,000 in debt could save about $5,000 in 20 years if he or she consolidates at this rate.

* Students should try and find a part-time job. Jobs offered on a college campus are ideal because employers know from the outset that theyre hiring college students with their irregular schedules, tests and exams. They know that education is a priority and are usually more forgiving as a result.

* Many parents think that Saving for College will just disqualify a student from getting financial aid. The actual fact is that income most often keeps students from qualifying for financial aid, not their assets. At the same time saving for education is an investment.

* There are four types of financial aid: scholarships, grants, loans and work-study employment. Colleges are not created equal regarding financial aid. Become familiar with your colleges financial aid packages.

* Apply for a loan. Loans are financial aid available to both parents and students. They are subsidized by the federal or state government, financial institutions or the college and may have lower interest rates than regular loans. Generally, you do not start paying back these loans until after college graduation.

There are many ways to prevent future financial hardships that can arise from paying for education, but having a plan is crucial. Web sites such as the GE Center for Financial Learning (www.financiallearning.com) can help you and your family take action to ensure an easy and trouble-free return to school each semester.

Have you ever used your intuition to solve problems? Can you trust your intuition? Can you improve it?

Have you ever used your intuition to solve problems? Can you trust your intuition? Can you improve it?

What Is Intuition?

Intuition is simply a feeling , sense, or hunch based on information not available to your conscious mind. Some say this comes from the ether or wherever, but I’m content to believe that our minds have a lot more going on in there than we know.

How can Gary Kasparov win a chess game against a computer that can calculate positions many moves further ahead than he can? By using his intuitive grasp of the game. His experience allows him to combine analysis with a “sense” of which move is best.

Intuition can also warn us. My wife and I felt we shoudn’t get on that bus in South America. We knew crowded busses were prime hunting grounds for pickpockets, and we saw the drunk man bumping into people. We didn’t think about these things consciously, but they registered in our minds, and warned us. We ignored our intuition, and I was robbed.

Of course, you can have a hunch for irrelevant reasons too. If you were hit by a taxi as a child, you might have “intuitive” hunches not to get into taxis for the rest of your life. So how do you know when to trust your intuition?

Three Simple Steps To Better Intuition

1. Watch for it. You’ll have hunches and ideas more often. I bought a conversion van, and now I see them all over. Have you had a similar experience? The same process will happen if you watch for your intuition - you’ll start to see more of it.

2. Question it. If I had asked myself why I felt bad about that bus, I might have thought, “Oh yeah, crowded busses are a bad idea. I know that.” Try to see in which areas your intuition works best, or not at all. If, for example, your hunches about people are always wrong, don’t follow them.

3. Give it good information. Your skill, knowledge and experience determine the potential effectiveness of your intuition. A weak chess player will never intuitively beat that computer. So learn enough about a subject, before you expect any good hunches. Remember the programmer’s maxim: garbage in - garbage out.

Do these three things and you’ll have more useful intuition more often.

Tuition Incentive Program
